Eco-friendly technologies are designed to consider both the long and short-term effects that they have on the environment by considering health and safety, renewable resource usage, energy generation and their ability to be recycled.<\/p>\n\n\n    <div class=\"o-icon-box__wrapper\">\n        <div class=\"o-icon-box o-icon-box--big o-icon-box--italics m-cool-gray-light\">\n            <div class=\"o-icon-box__text f-headline-extra-big\">\n                Eco-friendly innovations are a linchpin in the development of green and sustainable technology.            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In recent years, there have been great strides in bringing us new products and ideas in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.future-processing.com\/blog\/the-transformation-of-the-energy-industry\/\" title=\"The transformation of the energy industry\">renewable energy sector<\/a>, waste management, water purification, electronics and transportation. <strong>Eco-friendly innovations<\/strong> and technologies are complex, but they are usually focused on the following areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Energy efficiency and renewable energy;<br><br><\/li><li>Eco-friendly materials &#8211; Recycled, recyclable or biodegradable;<br><br><\/li><li>Reduction of waste and pollution;<br><br><\/li><li>Reduction in harmful emissions;<br><br><\/li><li>Multi-functionality;<br><br><\/li><li>Low-impact manufacturing.<br><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>The importance of green technology in today&#8217;s world<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Eco-friendly and sustainable technology are hugely important in today\u2019s modern world. It can hardly be ignored how much momentum that \u2018going green\u2019 has rightfully earned over recent years, fuelled by the recognition that running businesses and going about our daily lives in a wasteful manner which is harmful to the environment, is quite simply not sustainable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many sectors which have harmful effects on the environment, one of the most common being transport. In the UK, the <strong>Department for Business, Energy &amp; Industrial Strategy\u2019s 2020 Final Emissions Report<\/strong> shows that in both industrial sources and end-user sectors, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/statistics\/final-uk-greenhouse-gas-emissions-national-statistics-1990-to-2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">transport was the most significant contributor to greenhouse gases<\/a>, with the end-user emissions contributing to 28% of the total output.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <strong>BP\u2019s Statistical Review of World Energy<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bp.com\/en\/global\/corporate\/energy-economics\/statistical-review-of-world-energy.html#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">84% of the world still relies entirely on fossil fuels<\/a> which are non-renewable and unsustainable. This damages our environment and is extremely detrimental to our future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Green technology offers us the opportunity to <strong>dig ourselves out of the environmental predicament that we have created<\/strong>. It allows us to create and take advantage of better, more sustainable methods, products and waste reduction that will benefit the planet for millennia to come. One fantastic example of this lies in the recent shift in inner-city transportation. With the meteoric rise of electronic vehicles has come the e-scooter revolution. These new eco-scooters have been a hit all over the globe, with a <strong>study in Paris<\/strong> reporting that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/348915351_Who_is_using_e-scooters_and_how_Evidence_from_Paris\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">e-scooters were responsible for saving over 330 tons of carbon emissions<\/a> from entering the atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>Is the future of eco-friendly technology bright or dark?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There is definitely a very healthy future ahead for eco-friendly technologies. In order for something to really catch on, it has to have both social and economic benefits: eco-friendly technology has both.<\/p>\n\n\n    <div class=\"o-icon-box__wrapper\">\n        <div class=\"o-icon-box o-icon-box--big o-icon-box--italics m-cool-gray-light\">\n            <div class=\"o-icon-box__text f-headline-extra-big\">\n                Lean, green and clean technologies have been around for a while, but the recent acceleration in their adoption has emphasised why we need them and how useful they are.             <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This is reflected in the <strong>market value of sustainable technologies<\/strong>, which was valued at just $8.79 billion globally back in 2019 but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alliedmarketresearch.com\/green-technology-and-sustainability-market-A06033\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">is projected to reach $48.36 billion by 2027 &#8211; a growth of 24.3% in just 8 years!<\/a> Aside from the obvious, why is this growth important? Because in order to see a wide-reaching, global take up in the development and application of green technologies, it has to be not only financially viable, but financially attractive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another major driver in this positive uptake of green technologies is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eea.europa.eu\/policy-documents\/2030-climate-target-plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EU\u2019s 2030 Climate Target Plan<\/a>. They have set a goal for all member states to reduce their carbon emissions by 2030 to 55% below the figures recorded in 1990. <strong>Germany has taken this a step further by setting themselves the aggressive goal of becoming greenhouse gas neutral by 2045<\/strong>, and cutting these emissions by at least <a href=\"https:\/\/www.future-processing.com\/blog\/best-climate-tech-solutions-to-fuel-the-green-revolution-in-germany\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">65% by only 2030<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At <a href=\"https:\/\/www.future-processing.com\/go-green\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Future Processing<\/a>, we have been a champion of green and sustainable software for some time as we see it as not only our duty, but a crucial philosophy which will lead us all to create a better future to be as green as possible.
